Letter to my MP on the failure of UK Parliament to uphold International Humanitarian Law and the interests of Peace.

The facts laid out in a meme.

The Undemining of Peace, by a pro-War activist Lawyer (the persecutor of Julian Assange)

To Gareth Thomas, MP

Following the clearly adversarial approach of Labour and Conservatives this Wednesday last, in the UK Parliament in Westminster, London, an approach that disabled the SNP Opposition Day Motion calling for an 'immediate ceasefire in Gaza', and the 'ending of the collective punishment of the Palestinian people by the Israeli State', a reasonable motion by all standards, and then replaced it with a watered down, conditional motion that sought to avoid a 'rebellion' within the Labour Party back benches, a move that does not serve the interests of Peace, but instead protects the interests of Israeli Military State, and Keir Starmer’s clearly undemocratic leadership of the Labour Party, I write to you to, respectfully, to demand that the Labour Co-operative MPs who are genuinely active in seeking Peace  and Justice step away from the Labour Party.

The same Labour Party that has repeatedly refused to hold Tony Blair et al to account for their War crimes, even when we had the evidence before us.

The country re-elected him in 2005. The country failed in it’s basic duty of care.

Since then both Labour and Conservatives  have launched or supported a series of amoral Wars in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen and elsewhere and have ordered Military action beyond our borders, in contravention of the Laws of War.

This means, in real terms, that the Parties and Parliament are de facto War Criminal Entities that remain unindicted.

This failure has led directly to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, in that Russia used false claims similar to the way Blair et al have done, with the real politick understanding that in practice International Law does not apply to the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council.

The obvious hypocrisy of the different stances the UK Government has taken in relation to that War and all the other wars mentioned above is now clear, and presents a constant threat to world peace and co-operation.

It is worth noting that in a world that permits and enables warfare, the co-operation required to meet the challenges of Climate Disruption is not possible.

You must understand, as a member of a co-operative, that mutual aid is an essential component of developing healthy policy and that the adversarial dynamics of the current Govt. vs Opposition run counter to the meaning of healthy governance.

With that in mind, I am calling on you to uphold Humanitarian Law and International Law and the Laws prohibiting War.

Jeremy Corbyn in 2015 indicated that he would, if he gained the position of Prime Minister, order that War Crimes Investigations be initiated.

That was the primary (unspoken) reason for the Establishments vicious slanderous attack upon him, and upon the pro-peace policies he supported.

That was driving emotional reaction behind the internal Blairite Campaign within Labour to undermine his leadership.

That Campaign succeeded, because Labour MPs and Members refused to stand up for International Law.

Blair walks free, on a healthy state pension. He is amassing a large fortune as a direct result of all of this.

That failure is unacceptable, intolerable and utterly repugnant.

Please confirm that you will move to uphold International Law, distance yourself and your Party from these abject War criminals and stand with the peaceful people of Earth in your role as a politician, as a community leader and as an official whose wages we pay.

I advise you that my future, your future and all our children’s futures would be better served were you to align with the Green Party and all other genuine progressives and work to hold the war criminals to account, be they British, Russian, Syrian, Ukrainian or Israeli, or any other.

Failure to respond positively to this request will place you in a position that history will deem adverse the the interests of the people, and of peace.

Kindest regards

Corneilius

Letter to all elected members of Irish Dail and Seanad regarding South Africa's application the the ICJ

Who the hell votes against a ceasefire in a Genocide?

Mike Pence, former US Vice President, signing artillery shells in Southern Israel last week.

Dear representative,

The South African Government has made an application to the International Court of Justice, which rules on serious criminal offences between States, to initiate an indictment of the State of Israel for its current violent assault upon the people of Gaza, and the West Bank. They are asking that the courts rule on the situation, to charge it as an act of Genocide, to demand that all states party to the Genocide Convention take action to prevent this genocide from continuing, as International Law requires.

Ireland has ratified the Genocide Convention, as has South Africa and Israel, and most States around the world that form up the United Nations General Assembly.

It follows then, that the Irish Government, as a member of the UN, and in recognition of the long oppression of Irish people carried out by the English State and our in depth understanding of the history and adverse impacts of colonial conquest and genocidal actions designed to destroy the culture of the Irish, our language, our customs, culture, land tenure and polity by the English State, and later the British Empire, should support this application to the International Courts of Justice.

Can you please confirm that you will be taking the appropriate action to require the Irish State to uphold the Convention on Genocide, and other International Laws of War and the Humanitarian Law and join the South African application, to support it in full, without reservation?

Kindest regards

Corneilius Crowley (Irish Citizen)

They did not lose their lives.

They did not lose their lives.

Nuttyahoo has a war, AI AI Booom!

It is not a matter of looking around to see where those lives were misplaced, forgotten, left behind, dropped behind the sofa, dropped by accident as we got out of the car, left behind in the supermarket.

Their lives were stolen and not by stealth.

Their lives were taken, openly, in full view, not in a secret act or by mistake - their bodies were ruined, destroyed, violently, cruelly, intentionally. Block by block. AI AI oh.

Limbs were ripped from bodies. Hands that will never caress a grandchild's forehead, legs that will never dance again, fingers that will never again play music or prepare food and share it lovingly.

Throats that will never laugh again, or sing lullabies, or pray, eyes that will not tear up in bliss or sadness.

Their internal organs were crushed by pressure waves from hi-tech explosive munitions designed to do exactly that, delivered from the most advanced jets that industry can build, by shells sent by tanks and howitzers, carefully aimed to cause the most destruction possible.

AI AI Oh!

Their hearts will not flutter in new love, their lungs will not fill nor will their throats and hearts sing at weddings, their eyes will not see the years of growth and maturation of their children, or their parents, they will not take selfies at sunset to share to their friends and family.

Their guts were spilled, splattered and spread across the walls that no longer stand to protect these families that they might sleep soundly and in love.  Body bags of parts of bodies, the remains, what is left is unrecognisable as a person, as a human being.

They were blinded, they were broken in pieces, they were battered and brutalised and their surviving relatives had to bury them under an AI rain of hellfire, rockets and white phosphorus.

AI AI oh.

The survivors sleepless with trauma can see the stars, they can see the moon and they can see the flares through the spaces where ceilings once kept them safe from the rain and the sun.

They have no toilets, no fresh running water, they have no food. They have no medicines, they have no counselling. They comfort each other by being still in it together, sharing what is left, which is closer to nothing with each and every bombing raid.  They have no cookers, they have no fridges and they live under plastic sheeting, they live crowded into the remaining homes, a family in each room, shivering in fear, in despair, in unbearable condition waiting for the bomb earmarked for that dwelling. They know the meaning of Genocide. The lived experience, short as it is, unbearable as it is is still far too long.

AI AI oh.

The Israeli State War diet is to the death of all the innocents, their sordid claim that peace is the aim of this growing pile of bones of Palestinian families is vulgar psychopathy institutionalised.

The USUK ruling class cheer them on. The USUK media dumb down their reporting. The USUK ruling class urge restraint in public, citing self defence, while they allow the Israeli State to continue. ‘Tone it down a bit’ they say, in public.

They send more weapons to Ukraine, they send more weapons to Israel, they send more weapons everywhere war is active, as their shares in warfare industries increase in value.

These are our Ruling Class. We vote for them and we pay them. And this is what we get. We are the lucky ones. They will not bomb us, will they?

We see this on our screens. We see this on our phones.

I have long known that every war does this.  This is what war is. No war has ever been fought without harming the innocents, men, women, children and elders and their villages and towns, their cities. Horror movies are scary, war is disgusting, revolting, degrading.

There are no heroes, the myth of honour is a veil.

It takes real human courage, it takes immense effort, it tales great heart and kindness to make Peace the task. It will take all of us to make peace a reality.

Today the USUK population correctly protest, pointing to the innocence of these Palestinian families. We hate marching, the weathers is not great, and we fervently wish we had nothing to protest, that we could instead demonstrate love and make empathy our polity’s core - our marches are not hatred, even though the ruling class hate them. Striking nurses do not hate, they care.

We did not hold our War criminals to account in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and six and seven and eight and beyond, even as we had the evidence.

They all walk free, enriched, pensioned, protected and they have more than they need, whilst poverty is intentionally maintained in order to ensure the wealth extraction faction remains  dominant.

We - you and I and our neighbours, we who live on every street - we cannot undo the harm done, and we must ask ourselves now - 'What can we do to prevent more harm?'

How do we live on with integrity, without relying on hope, faith or comfort to get us through and where will we find the shared determination to end the warfare that we are all paying for, so that peace has a chance?

The cost of murder crisis has many layers.

They did not lose their lives, they will not get them back, we know where they went, we still have ours.

Militarism Today - A Dominator Cult destroying human health, everywhere.

Militarism Today - A Dominator Cult destroying human health, everywhere.

I have attended a good few outdoor dance festivals during my career as a musician and as a DJ. I cannot even begin to imagine the terror and horror of what was done to those young people dancing, loving, laughing.

Militarism and it's children: factories producing industrial scale of weapons and supplies, with money taken from workers to fund it, warfare, is shredded bodies, blood and gore, civilian wastelands, shock, terror, chaos, confusion, vomit, spatter, puddle, piss, excrement, burning flesh, cries and groans, hours upon hours upon days upon weeks upon months upon years and centuries of muttered agony and death.

Rest in Peace, they say - too late I say.

Peace is, for the living, an absolute necessity. Peace in death is a delusion. There's no evidence for it either. The only evidence of Peace can be found amongst the living. The only reason for Peace is found amongst the living. Peace is a necessity for human life to thrive happily.

The horror, the disgusting reality of warfare, the smell and vision of wars upon wars, upon wars, cities, towns, villages aand homes filled with gore and grief, hatred and sorrow. Blood and mud, blood and sand, blood and water, blood and snow, blood and asphalt, blood and concrete, blood and grass, blood and glass, blood and babies, blood and their mothers, even in utero, spattered human flesh, and excreta, and body parts beyond recognition, that’s war.

Millenia of men slaughtering one another, for honour, pride, land, conquest.

Those who survive, are scarred, by degree. Nobody who wages war, who does the fighting, wins. Not on any side. They all lose. The merchants of death do make a solid profit, of course they do. That's the point.

A music festival is attacked, hundreds murdered, wounded, some taken captive, thousands flee in total terror. They were dancing, doing no harm at all. Israel 2023

A shopping centre is hit by a missile, fifty four die immediately, hundreds injured. Ukraine 2023

An attack helicopter mistakes a group of journalists, cites them as ‘terrorists’, gets approval for a strike, strikes and then attacks a rescue van, with a child in the front passenger seat. Iraq 2004

An entire population subjected to a militarised blockade, now facing aerial bombardment by drones. Gaza, for decades, 2023.

A squad of combat troops enter a peasant village, and proceed to murder everyone, burn their entire village to the ground. A helicopter pilot sees this, intervenes, stops massacre. The matter is covered-up, more or less. Vietnam 1970s.

Israeli military issue press release announcing more aerial bombardment of Gaza, acknowledges it may harm some hostages, accepts that price. Tel Aviv 2023

A hospital and school and water treatment plant in Yemen are bombed by Saudi pilots in American War Jets, serviced by American and British technicians. Yemen 2022

Hamas gives warning that unless Israel cease the aerial bombardment of civilians in Gaza, which is happening, which they are enduring would be to murder one hostage, every hour, one by one. Gaza 2023.

Revenge on both sides feeding the oven of hate, baking the crusty bread of hatred hard. Such a bread cannot be chewed and digested when it is baked so hard.

Armenian ethnic Azerbaijani’s flee Azerbaijan, as ethnic Azerbaijani’s take militarised control of their province. 2023

Old men make decisions that throw millions of people into war, millions of entirely innocent people, families, grand parents, children, homes, villages, farms. Lives destroyed.

The vulnerability of us ordinary folk, when a military ‘operation’ runs through our shared commons is real.

The power disparity is immense.

Families  at a wedding or a funeral facing armed, trained, resourced combat troops and their supporting machinery?

A small party of dancers in the desert are attacked by traumatised angry raging people using automatic weapons, deploying military skill set against defenceless holiday makers. War is horrific.

Apparently this is all illegal, under International Law. Which is true. It is.

Who upholds the Law? No-one does.

Who does not? Every militarised state that engages in warfare.

Why? Because warfare is a tool of the Dominator Culture.

Who pays for it? We do, us ordinary people, everywhere.

How do they get away with it? Because they succeed in dividing us, and they hold a power disparity we cannot counter unless we are fully united in humane solidarity, as a polity, and refuse to take sides in any war or allow our children to be enlisted.

Who has the power, who wields the power, for what purpose, with what outcomes for the population and our shared commons?

The thorny matter of an intentionally constructed historical Social and Material Power Disparity being exploited - causing great harm to the disempowered, the vulnerable population of ordinary folk, and our shared environment raises its ugly head.

Chop! Chop!  Here we go.

I read history. I grew up during the 1960s and 1970s in Ireland.

I studied the history of empires from Sumer through to the British Empire. The Irish had a reason to teach this history to their children. Empire has scarred our land, our people long time. And yet Peace in Northern Ireland was made to happen, mostly by ordinary women and men working together, from all the divided sides, seeking to end the divisions the political hierarchy creates. It is a work in progress.

I understand the dynamics of cultural hierarchies of violence. I understand why violence is utilised - it serves as enforcement of dominance, suppressing all actual or perceived threats.

The there's the cultural memes - The Warrior Gene, strategies for mating, violent men as ‘protectors’, women as their grateful servants, conjugal rights -  these are all part of a deliberate set up, an anti-social system maintaining the constant threat, with frequent proven examples to let everyone know the capacity for extreme violence is close by, that it has been deployed, and that it can be deployed, and probably will be deployed. And there’s nothing the ordinary person can do about it.

The data tells us the violence is cyclical. Again and again and again - the data tells us the deployment of organised violence is cultural.

Social conditioning and education drive consumers towards dystopian movies, reenactments and novels, predictions of Armageddon, all of which deliberately romanticise the realities of mass violence out of recognition, for a pretty penny and some titillation. Rambo.

Historical knowledge across most carefully ‘educated’ populations is, in all honesty, merely a general or potted knowledge of history, focused on celebrities and national identity,  rather than a good understanding of the source data on the lived experience of the most vulnerable among us, as their lives are impacted by the decisions of the most powerful, in the relevant space and time being discussed. The history of Kings and the great and the good is not the history of the people.

The narrative of the good guy doing bad violence for good, the dehumanisation of both in that portrayal.

Violence is always cyclical - the only way to stop the cycle is to cease the violence, start negotiations, and keep talking until it’s done.

It IS that simple, yes, obviously it would be complex to set up and  at the same time the only serious complications would be the interference of those who want more war. Whoever they are, right? Not naming any names....

Peace is more than the absence of war.” Wrote Arundhutii Roy

It is certain that the deliberate absence of Militarism is one likely social and material certification of peace.

It is also, importantly, critically so, that Peace include the deliberate absence of poverty, of low wages, of worker exploitation, of environmental degradation, of air, land and water being poisoned.

Peace is the absence of misogyny, racism, xenophobia and all forms of discrimination, othering, classism and other forms of category aimed abusive behaviour.

It’s all part of what is clearly unhealthy human behaviour.

It’s nonsensical to suggest this degree of unhealthy behaviour is ‘natural’ - it is more precise to say that this unhealthy behaviour is a cultural behaviour. The Dominator Cult.

Peace is a place of health, good health, robust health, empathy, kindness and creativity, with ample capacity to share, learn, nurture. We are evolved for that peace - the peace of the womb must also be set within the peace of the community. The nuclear family is a time bomb.

Whereas when one honestly observes this we can see that the culture itself, as a body of thought, resources, people and material infrastructure in operation over time, is clearly unhealthy, because it has been causing immense harm for millennia, and still is - in spite of the comforts of the middle classes, the poverty of low paid workers feeds the vast wealth of the Oligarchs.

This culture is clearly behaving in a distorted manner, not healthy at all.

Here’s the thing, in spite of all the horror, it is still true and will always be true, that as a species we are evolved to learn - we children can learn healthy relationships from an adult community that is healthy, just as we children learn dysfunctional or coping or shame based relationships if our parents are distressed, wounded , traumatised and coping as best they can, let alone the malicious ‘teachings’ of various spiritual traditions that hold there is a darkness, an evil in us all waiting for an opportunity that can only be prevented by adopting a religious belief system.

You know, we are human - we're sensitive, and thus we are all prone to aches, pains, unhappy moods and feeling hurt.

We adults have a task to build that kind of community where children can learn from healthy adult humans who healthy for the species, a species evolved for deep emotional bonding sustained over many decades, across a community that shares the same habitat, even if some of us are sometimes grumpy, weird, crazy, vulnerable, cross - we learn to regulate our emotional reactions... so that we can respond rather than react.

That’s who we really are. Friends, family, lovers, colleagues, communities.

War is horrific.

Part of my grief is the loss of the egalitarian experience and environment for all of us.

I think about billions of persons, each a warm living beating heart, a warm soft body, a mind, a family, a community that is missing that basic evolved-for state - the egalitarian human - the natural child within a natural community of healthy adults, children and elders, emotionally healthy, physically healthy, barring accidents, or injuries or the odd scuffle or temper tantrum.

We are, after all, only human.

War is horrific.

We have to look at it as it really is.

Stop taking sides... really.

Too many, far too many have stood shivering in trenches, behind defences, preparing to attack, on foot, or defend from their position, having endured a massive artillery barrage or a siege.

Far too many families sheltered as best they could with what little that had, and were found and slaughtered, because they could not run away.

That’s war, young men ordered to move out, to approach the young men on the other side or sides, and kill or capture them. Orders issued by old politicians.

War is reckless barbaric cruelty on an industrial scale. Rich and powerful old men issue the orders.

Orders are to subdue and control the civilian population that survives.

Detect enemy forces hiding in that population and then destroy them. Until they are chased out, and the other side come waging war through that territory. Or the war ends, for now, at least. Kosovo 2023.

 Again and again.

Oceans of death, mountains of grief, clouds of cold misery raining upon generation after generation.

Gore. So much gore.

I get a bad feeling when I weigh it all up.

Which is distressing.

And I know this that anything on the horizon of as bad as it gets living through war, surviving,  I wouldn’t wish that on my anyone. I have no enemies. You have no enemies. States declare enemies. Religions declare enemies. Ordinary people do not declare enemies. Nobody should ever have to live through warfare.

It ain’t natural.

I think we, the people, we need all of us, to stand in solidarity with all human beings. Only we can heal the dynamic of enemies and Power struggles.

We need to look, without bias, at the human cost of war culture and work out how to prevent war as part of the same task as confronting climate change, poverty, misogyny.

We need to break the spells of propaganda and hope.

We need to let go of all that. We need to say no to the propaganda, all the time. Never let them speak lies and bias without being challenged with honesty and evidence.

We need to look at war as it really is at the human level, to the lived experience of the person caught up within it, whatever their situation within it is.

The lived experience of Survivors of war, told without taking sides, tells us what happens to ordinary people caught up in warfare.

What really happens?

We need to see the reality of war as a culture, a cult that has taken over our peoples - only then will us civilians have the base for the common sense, the human moral courage to commit that we will do this  together, all us ordinary people,  we will do what ever it will take to make Peace our fundamental cultural value, our human keystone, our social foundation, our infrastructure and our global heart beat.

Hamas combat operations targeted an electronic dance festival in Southern Israel.

Ordinary people, from a global community, dancing in the desert. Oh! the heartbeats, those poor hearts. Those youngsters at a party in the desert.. unspeakable.

Grief beyond any comprehension, shock, visceral outrage. I  can’t imagine the terror, the confusion, the chaos, the horror, the grief, the fear, the numbing, the running, the losing one’s way, the falls that fleeing people do, the injuries, the things they saw happen in front go them, the impotence, the power disparity in that moment of dancers facing trained combat groups with automatic assault weapons.

Fleeing knowing others behind you were falling, and being executed…the tears and frustration, the desperate reality of being in that atrocity situation.

War is horrific.

This kind of violence is cultural, and for that reason it is also cyclical. The War Cult thrives because it is always fighting for its survival.  It wages war against the peace activists at home and abroad.

Therein lies an area of discussion too real for 21st Century politics.

Change the culture, break the cycles of violence.

THAT is the task.

It is possible, because it is a human task to undo human harm. No god can undo what harm humans cause. Breaking the cycles of trauma and violence is  one of the most humanising tasks to which one could commit oneself and one’s community in the long term.

Even if from some angles that claim looks quite ambitious, somewhat improbable and blatantly implausible right now, it must be said, because……..

War is horrific.

The more war violence I see, the more I detest those who enable war as a methodology of power, the more compassion I have for survivors, the more outrage I feel on behalf of us ordinary folk, globally.

Heartbreaking.

Wealth Extraction vs International Democracy. Brexit is a precedent. Selfish as an interest, a faux philosophy, a meme of the bully cults political power base.

'Wedge Issues' : Seeking out materials that are belief based with which to stimulate endless angry argument (and violence) as a means to prevent democratic solidarity emerging amongst us workers. A core activity of News Mefia, oligarchy funded conspiracy theory, political hegemons, within the Bully Cult.

The ruling of the USSC on Roe vs Wade is designed to harden divisions across the USA - belief that Christianity needs to expand and dominate, belief that Christianity is under threat of a 'birth dearth', belief that US Military Power is a benign, honourable culture, belief that peoples sexual pleasure is a threat to society, belief that Capitalism is the best way to organise a society, belief that the poor and destitute are inferior and have only themselves to blame, belief that Race is a biologically, God given stratification - belief imposes it's will, and ignores the evidence, the knowledge, and sets up an endless brain-offline war of nasty attrition, as the believers refuse to acknowledge the knowledge, and dig their heels in, emotions flared, frontal cortex off-lined, amygdala over loaded, guns at the ready.

The underlying pattern this odious dynamic misGovernment is revealing is simple.

In the UK the attempt to break the terms of the Brexit Agreement regarding Northern Ireland may appear crazy, yet if one takes a wider look, something else emerges, and although it too is insane, and ugly, it makes sense of the attempt to legislate English Law to break an international treaty. Unilaterally, ditching negotiations.

They know exactly what they are doing and their sponsors do too. They know exactly what they are aiming for, strategically.  A Free-Market fundamentalist State, Sovereign and selfish.

What appears to be incompetence is not what it seems. Indeed the charge of incompetence provides a cover for the nature of the program they are pushing - 'incompetence' is easier pill to swallow than plainly evil. Evil is causing harm and denying it, in order to exploit a situation. That choice is evil. And no-one wants to see it, because to see it is to awaken to a need for deliberate and determined solidarity based political action that entails effort, vulnerability, potential stress and failure. A scary ask for anyone.

The program : to undermine International treaty obligations as a standard and undermine democratic engagement of the population in driving through international treaties, national legislation and other measures necessary to meet the challenges of climate disruption.

Why?

Because the goal is to insulate the Wealth Extraction class from democratic regulation and legislation that would :

a) Make provision for climate disruption adaptations and support for those most afflicted by the disruptions that are already happening, and will continue to escalate

b) Make provision for criminal indictments for delaying, denial and other campaigns that have hindered recognition of the problems, which were known to those campaigning for those delays, because those delays are causing harm. Lies, gaslighting, manipulation, conspiracy theory, denialism and corruption.

c) Make provision for prevention of harms in all industries that pollute, poison, spill waste into the environment, spill toxins into our air - this would impose a massive cost on all industries involved. It ought to be basic practice to not pollute, poison or release toxic 'waste' materials into the environment.

d) Make provision to limit Wealth Extraction and to abolish poverty. Low wages is a key component of extracting wealth, backed by deliberately maintaining and exacerbating poverty, with the threat of homelessness and destitution as a whip - note that the money the impoverished spend on food and utilities flows back to the profit extraction process whereas the money extracted is off-shored or 'invested' in ways that drive up property prices and enhances the political power of the Wealth Extraction class as a political hegemon. Wealth as a weapon system.

e) This Tory government removed the clause in the ministerial code of conduct in 2015 in preparation for this strategic shift. Brexit was a test case, to see how quickly breaking international treaties unilaterally could be set as a precedent. Once the precedent is set, as this week, Parliament 'debates' the setting aside of the Northern Ireland Protocol Agreement as a piece of legislation.

f) The Tories want England to become a safe haven for the Oligarchy to park their wealth. Free Ports, Free Cities, low corporate taxation, secrecy, off-shoring and much else besides.

This amounts to a campaign that is a war - Wealth Extraction against the survival of Humanity, against any democratic movement that seeks to end the harmful practices, and avoid all those harms into the future.

Their biggest fear is a united population, humane solidarity across the diverse population - and so they sow division, using tactics that target emotional belief and bias, to generate divisions within the voting population, and beyond, so that popular solidarity cannot emerge to challenge the Wealth Extraction class.

Laws that make protest a criminal offence, laws that remove democratic Human Rights, laws that protect the Wealth Extraction and sanction the impoverished, laws that impede oversight of Government, laws that allow Government to ignore court rulings, laws that allow secret service, military and police and others to commit crimes in the course of their work to 'protect the nation', laws that criminalise poverty, laws that permit pollution of our waterways, laws that undermine almost every element of a functioning democracy (not that we have ever had a functioning healthy democracy - the existence of a ruling class makes that ideal impossible.)

A legislative war against democratic legislation and regulation of industrial wealth extraction rooted in externalised costs, even as those costs cause harm to hundreds of millions, and potentially billions of people, and our shared environment.

The ruling of the USSC on Roe vs Wade is also designed to harden divisions across the USA - belief imposes it's will, and ignores the evidence, the knowledge, and sets up an endless war of attrition, as the believers refuse to acknowledge the knowledge, and dig their heels in, emotions flared, frontal cortex off-lined, guns at the ready.

We know what must be done, don't we?

Letter : When will we workers cease our support for militarism? Wars are workers pointing guns at each other, as commanded by oligarchies.

It is clear that the vast majority of us 'ordinary' people, the workers, who live all across this Earth are decent, loving and vulnerable people, who have no interest in war, no desire to wage war, no sense of other ordinary people as a lethal enemy. This is not the case when it comes to States.

It's clear the war visited upon Ukraine by Russia is the Crime of Aggression, the supreme War Crime, and that Russia has no case whatsoever for this invasion. The Russian Military action is an abomination, it is disgusting, a horrific act of unrelenting cruelty and evil.

Indeed, there are no legal justifications for any invasion of any kind cross internationally agreed borders. All such invasions are War Crimes, barring a military action mandated by unanimous vote of the United Nations - and to date, no such mandate has ever been granted.

It is also clear that this horror is one more war in a series of similar wars. The ideal of peace in the 21st Century is fading, fast. It faded in 2002 with the invasion of Afghanistan, and then in 2003 the invasion of Iraq. In Ukraine, in the East, and in the West, as the country polarised along lines of irrational belief, it faded in 2014, and has been fading ever since.

It is clear that the situation in Ukraine is beyond horrific, that it is, as I have already written,  an abomination. The death and destruction being visited upon Ukrainian civil infrastructure and the upon civilian population, and indeed upon their military is grim, a living hell for those that survive, those that manage to flee.

It is clear that all assistance must be extended by States and people to help prevent more violence and harm.

Why then is the EU not hosting the talks between Russia and Ukraine? The two sides talking on their own, without EU or UN oversight and support for a negotiated ceasefire at the very minimum, to protect the civilian populations is akin to a domestic abuse situation, where the neighbours and police, the social services and the families relatives leave it the warring couple to 'work our their differences' without any support, while the couple harm their children.

Why is the EU/NATO states supplying weapons to Ukraine? Why are they and the media glorifying and enabling the transit of men who want to fight? Why are European Jihadi's now totally acceptable?

Do people not understand that war on either side is a criminal enterprise, and makes criminals of all who participate, as hatred drives engagement after the first fire fight and loss of comrades?

Refugees

And so we see a two way flow, in and out of war.  It is always the middle class who flee in cars, the poor are left to run out of harms way on their legs, carrying as much as they can. Their homes become battle staging grounds.

We see people running away from violence and a minority running towards the violence. The former are sensible, the latter lack all common sense, and are intent on escalation that will increase the flow of the former.

Refugees need help and they need peace to be able to return.

It is especially urgent is to provide all possible means of support and care for all who have fled, are fleeing and will flee the violence.  Further more, all efforts must be focused on enabling their earliest possible safe return to their homes, farms, villages, towns and cities with fullest possible support from the global community to repair, rebuild and reclaim peace in their homeland. The refugees have left under duress, and most will want to return, to pick up as best they can, and get on with their lives as communities. For that to happen the world's political focus must be upon ending the militarised violence on all sides.

The talk in certain news media of using sanctions to bring down Putin's regime does not mention that the companion to that is the destruction of Ukraine by protected violence, fuelled by flows of money and weapons and fighters into Ukraine. The ethics of competing powers are an unflushed toilet of disgrace, manipulation, greed and cruelty.

Peace talks, a ceasefire, not more War.

As Jeremy Corbyn has said "All wars end in peace talks. Why not skip the war, and go straight to the peace talks?" Those talks must be hosted by external parties dedicated to peace, to a situation that restores healthy governance to the people and states involved.

It is clear to me that this war cannot be understood correctly as an isolated event, rather it must be seen as yet another lethal horrific war within a culture of war making. It is clear to me that we are living within a culture that accepts war making as a normal part of state activity.

The Bully Cult.

Betty Williams, A northern Irish Peace Worker.

Out of 195 states, only a few eschew military capability.

Andorra, Aruba, Cayman Islands, Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominica. Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, French Polynesia, Greenland, Grenada, Iceland, Kiribati, Kosovo, Lichtenstein, Macau (China S.A.R.), Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Federated States of Micronesia, Monaco, Montserrat, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Panama, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Sint Maarten, Solomon Islands, Svalbard (unincorporated region of Norway), Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Thirty Six. Thirty six countries that have decided not to waste resources on developing and maintaining a military capability.

It's heart breaking to live in 2022, the 21st Century, and to be witness to all these wars, year after year.

Each war has seen more video, more images, more live video feeds as mobile phones, the internet and live streaming services have expanded. We now have drone views of warfare within hours of the 'action'. Fight Club has gone digital.

What is it to be refugee?

The refugees are not members of the bully cult, they are it's victims. People, families, communities and entire nations victimised by the bully cult.

I cannot imagine what it must feel like to live through the actual realities of war on one's doorstep. Running from one's home, knowing all the neighbours who had cars left days ago. Fleeing at the last minute, possibly seeing neighbours or family members killed or maimed, and not being able to help them. Carrying what one can, carrying small children, assisting elderly relatives. The sudden loss of all of one's home comforts and memories, under extreme duress.

Leaving so much behind, with no certainty as to one's future. This is not a voluntary migration. The USUK language of migrants, illegal immigrants, illegal aliens has been used to deny the reality of refugees from wars the bully cult has had a hand in feeding.

We've seen images of farms, villages, towns and cities emptied of living, working and thriving populations, destroyed by street by street warfare, ghoulish ghettos of grey concrete.

It's too much to bear.

The sluggish response of UK and USA to the need of Ukrainian Refugees is ignoble. The hypocritical reporting of violent resistance to a state being attacked by another state that is revealed by the change in tone in news media approach to different wars.

The Palestinians must not engage violence, the Afghani, Yemeni or Syrians must not engage violence to defend their State, and the Ukrainians must, and are righteous in adopt a violent resistance!

The breathless, jingoist media led war cries of more weapons, more war, death to the invader, glory to the State, we fight for freedom! etc ignores the fact that in spite of the legal and moral right of self defence, we tend to ignore the immense human cost of self defence by violence.

Our democratic leaderships reduce the chances for cessation of violence by cheering on a violent resistance from the side-lines, and promising weapons and money to continue that violent resistance. I get the basic sentiment, and I fear it will not bring relief, it will not hasten peace talks.

In Western culture, entertainment and general knowledge, violent resistance to invaders is romanticised, peaceful resistance is equated to 'capitulation' and it's proponents (conscientious objectors) are often dehumanised or caricatured (unpatriotic, yellow, Freedom Fries not French Fries!) and this has a profound political impact in that it obscures the realities of warfare. People who do not correctly undeestand what war is are more readily convinced on its merits.

Histories of Resistance.

It has to be said that, at first, the Iraqi people in 2003 avoided a violent insurgency. They waited for the USUK and 'coalition of the willing' to make good their promises about bringing democracy to Iraq, Iraqi's hoped for improvement and fulfilment of promises ,made, announced to the world by Blair and Bush.

When these promises failed to manifest, Iraqi civil society protested, peaceably, robustly to no avail, and were banned from protest, and then violently suppressed when they persisted. And so by early 2004, elements of Iraqi society started to escalate violent resistance, leading to the US counter-insurgency operations that together, between 2004 and 2006, caused more many more violent deaths, maimings and destruction than occurred during the invasion itself in 2003.

Iraq suffered greatly, and suffers still today, 19 years later. Here's a report from last year.

"Arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings of demonstrators by Iraqi security forces in late 2019 and into 2020 led to government resignations and the nomination of a new prime minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, in May 2020. Despite an initial seeming willingness to address some of Iraq’s most serious human rights challenges, al-Kadhimi’s government failed to end abuses against protesters.

Iraq’s criminal justice system was riddled with the widespread use of torture and forced confessions and, despite serious due process violations, authorities carried out numerous judicial executions."

War, Pestilence, Poverty and Climate.

That all of this is ongoing  and Ukraine is overflowing on our news feeds right now, whilst wars in Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Libya, Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kurdistan, Myanmar, and other wars are being prosecuted and fed with weapons, bodies and money, even as COVID continues to wreak havoc on billions of people, and as the very real concerns of Climate Change remain to be faced up to speaks to an urgent need for honesty, unrelenting honesty across all our countries political, cultural and economic domains.

This video presents a short review of the most recent report of the IPCC.

"Can we survive the coming decades? Given the state of global affairs today, that's probably a question many people are asking themselves right now. The IPCC has just published their answer, at least from a climate point of view. And they pull no punches. We're almost out of time, they say, and we need immediate global geopolitical cooperation to succeed. Oh dear!"

Oh dear, indeed. I made a video back in 2005, entitled T(ypo)Error suggesting the the most critical issue facing us was Global Warring, in that unless we cease war as a tool of foreign policy of the great powers, we will never be capable of the global co-operation necessary to meet the challenges of Climate Change.

I was not wrong then, I am not wrong now. We have work to do, our children's lives depend upon us doing this work, with all due diligence and as much energy and creativity as we can muster. The Militarists are screwing us all.

Honestly...

So I wrote this letter, and sent it out to various news media in Ireland and the UK. I do not expect this one to be published, I may write a more muted version, to see if that might be published. I do feel I am swimming against the flow of the current Western news narratives, barely treading water.

Dear Editor

When will we, the ordinary people who work, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, relatives and neighbours who pay taxes and who vote, and generally live decently and peaceably, finally vote to put an end to the practice of our States employing poor working class boys and girls, training them to point guns at other States poor working class boys and girls, to shoot to kill, to efficiently direct artillery fire upon 'enemy' taking cover in homes, offices and factory's of fled civilian populations?

When will we say "Enough, already!  No more war?"

When will the working class of Earth unite across borders, languages, faiths and flags and vote for a polity of collaboration and mutual aid instead of repeatedly voting for this atrocity generating competing militarised industrialised profiteering hegemony seeking  powers psychopathy?

There is no way that we will be in a position to handle climate change and it's attendant problems in ways to minimise harms to our peoples to a bare minimum until we rid ourselves of the military industrial psychosis, and that's blatantly obvious.

My heart is torn by each and every war, by every bomb and bullet and every purchase order for more weapons.

Kindest regards

Corneilius
